Poutá mě k sobě a já nevím proč.
You’ll know it from a mile away, the saltiness on your tongue, the cawing of seagulls. You come closer and watch its motion. Slowly biting off rocks and reefs, grain by grain they become sand at the bottom. It washes ashore and swallows it again, pulling it down into the depths. The sand is full of pebbles, shells, brown algae and dead fish. It’s flooding the paths you walked safely on hours before, as if it wants to keep the islands to itself, now hugging them, now pounding them furiously, groping for them, not knowing what to do with itself. It froths, it rages, it shouts at you, and then it comforts you whispering again. It lures you in with azure blue, darkens you under storm clouds, pulls back the curtains of rain, tangles you in them until you’re soaked to the bone, and lets the sun’s rays in. It steals sounds like a highway in the valley, but the waves against it tell stories in a pleasant deep tone. Even so, you don’t hear the softer, more subtle sounds like the rustling of leaves, the soft crunch of grass and the song of birds, or even the words of your friends. It takes you all to itself.
Oh, how I love the sea. It calls me and I don’t know why. Perhaps to come once more, with questions I won’t be able to answer. But how beautiful it is to ask the sea.

Co na srdci, to v prstech
